I remember infrequently visiting the Golpark Ramakrishna Mission during my engineering days, preferably after the evening prayers. I am an atheist and I didn’t have any question. I preferred to remain unnoticed in a corner and enjoy the tranquillity. I feel the same when I visit the Church during Christmas after the Mass when most visitors had left.
I clearly understand the meaning of that feeling now – it signifies the peace of the void. It takes you beyond nature because your mind is unoccupied, there’s no influence of nature left in it. And that’s the only state of mind where you are more powerful than nature. You aren’t disturbed by life or death or happiness or anger or pride or envy… it’s completeness. The state at the time before nature existed – nothingness.
